Metroidguide.com was founded in 2003 as an independent, fan-created archive with a different objective than a standard guide or FAQ site. Rather than document the series only from the outside, the original project approached the material as though it were a recovered Galactic Federation field archive: a scientific, military, and xenological record of planets, lifeforms, technology, factions, and historical incidents.

The archive began as the work of a single fan. As it grew, it connected with other Metroid fans around the world, and some of those readers became collaborators who helped expand the guide's records, images, and archive structure.

When the project first took shape, its foundation was built around the first three core Metroid mission records. The wider official catalog has since expanded to sixteen major releases, which made keeping the archive current increasingly difficult over time. A full revamp was always somewhere in the works; after years of false starts, that reconstruction is finally ready to be deployed.

Archive Purpose

The guide is presented as a Department of Scientific Intelligence field archive, cataloging planetary records, lifeform observations, faction profiles, historical incidents, Metroid research, technology files, and armament references.

Editorial Scope

Entries are written as in-universe field reports, dossiers, and operational notes. The archive favors scientific tone, military clarity, and connected reference data across subjects.
