This mobile research role gives the class strategic reach. A specimen can be removed from one environment, subjected to study in orbit, and moved toward another site without waiting for a fixed base. That mobility also multiplies the consequences of failure: an escaped organism, damaged containment deck, or destabilized reactor can turn the vessel itself into a source of environmental harm long before it reaches its planned destination.
