The Power Bomb is a high-yield area explosive that turns a small stored charge into a room-scale demolition event. It is not a larger version of the standard Bomb so much as a different class of emergency ordnance: rare, broad, loud, and capable of changing an entire encounter space at once.
The detonation expands as a near-spherical pulse with a bright central bloom, rolling pressure edge, thermal flash, and broad electromagnetic interference. Its residue field is diffuse compared with missile impact, but the damage footprint is far wider. Weak cover, minor hazard growth, clustered threats, and fragile structures may simply cease to be relevant after detonation.
Federation handling notes treat the Power Bomb as a mission-state change. If it is armed, the team has usually crossed from survey or controlled combat into emergency demolition. The question is not only what the blast destroys, but what evidence, routes, pressure seals, and living allies are inside the same radius.

Unlike a Missile, it does not need forward impact or a target face. It uses timed expansion from the arming point, producing destructive force in every direction the environment allows.
Operator survival depends on synchronized shielding, magnetic damping, and blast-channel prediction. Compatible armor times a protective envelope around the detonation center, but that protection is narrow and personal. Nearby allies, samples, fragile machinery, and unshielded structures do not automatically share the operator's safety margin.
The blast contains more than pressure. Thermal flash, electromagnetic stress, sensor overload, and structural vibration all contribute to the effect. That mixture explains why the Power Bomb can clear swarms, disrupt minor locks, collapse unstable material, and briefly blind local sensors without requiring a direct impact point.

It should feel decisive because the team is spending rare ordnance and accepting broad consequences.
In exploration, it can open buried chambers, clear collapsed passages, reveal hidden structures, or remove growth that no smaller tool can safely cut through. These uses are powerful but blunt. A Power Bomb can uncover a route and destroy the evidence that would have explained why the route was sealed.
For field records, every Power Bomb detonation should include standoff distance, shielding status, blast containment, affected structures, sensor blackout duration, ammunition source, and post-blast environmental change. Without those details, later teams cannot decide whether the use was justified, excessive, or the cause of secondary damage.
At the table, Power Bomb deployment should pause the room. Define what is in the radius before detonation: allies, artifacts, eggs, pressure vessels, support columns, sample containers, sealed atmospheres, and enemies. The weapon is at its best when the player knows it will work and still has to decide whether the aftermath is acceptable.
