Overview

The Power Bomb is a limited-reserve high-yield ordnance system deployed through the Morph Ball configuration. A small placed charge expands into a broad radial energy event that can affect everything in the immediate volume. The system exists for conditions where a standard close-placement charge or a single remote projectile cannot create enough change quickly enough.

Its principal capability is scale. A Power Bomb can clear a dense threat volume, remove specially resistant material, or force a path through a boundary that ordinary Bombs and Missiles leave intact. That scale makes it valuable in a true emergency, but it also means the device cannot distinguish a hostile body from a critical support, a sample cache, or a member of the responding team.

Power Bomb use is therefore a containment decision. It does not merely ask whether the target can be destroyed; it asks whether the whole local environment can accept the pressure, heat, and secondary damage that follow. The device is powerful precisely because it changes a space rather than a single point within it.

Radial Event And Blast Envelope

The detonation expands outward from the placed charge as a bright, high-energy pulse. Its practical effect is broad enough to damage nearby organisms and remove materials that resist ordinary compact-form explosives. The boundary of that effect must be considered three-dimensional: floor voids, overhead supports, side passages, and connected compartments can all carry the consequence farther than an operator standing at the placement point expects.

This is why a Power Bomb cannot be evaluated by direct damage alone. A cleared room may still contain fractured supports, residual heat, damaged access systems, or compromised seals. The post-event survey is part of the weapon operation, especially when the detonation was used to regain an exit rather than simply eliminate a nearby hazard.

Compact-Form Integration

Like the baseline Bomb, the Power Bomb depends on compact-form access to place its charge where a standing operator cannot work. The similarity ends at deployment. A Bomb gives a local timed pulse suitable for weak material and compact mechanisms; a Power Bomb converts the same access advantage into a far broader destructive event.

The compact configuration improves placement but does not reduce the danger to the operator. A safe deployment requires an escape line, a known detonation space, and a route that remains viable after nearby barriers and supports have changed. Entering a restricted conduit does not make a wide-radius ordnance system safe to use there.

Scale Comparison And Limits

The Missile system is appropriate when one remote hard point needs explosive force. The Super Missile increases that force at the same focused point. Power Bomb instead accepts lower selectivity in exchange for a broad immediate effect. These are three different field decisions, not a linear list of stronger explosives.

The limiting factors are reserve, placement, collateral, and recovery. A limited Power Bomb supply prevents routine use, while the blast radius makes use near survivors, unstable facilities, or unexamined specimens especially costly. A high-output device should be held for the moment when the surrounding volume is already the problem and a smaller weapon would leave that problem intact.
