It is not a general-purpose weapon platform. Its design is tuned to control the immediate surface on which it has established contact.

The unit's main action is a synchronized downward strike by both cylinders. That impact produces a linear thermal disturbance that travels along the floor, wall, or ceiling beneath it. By tying its effect to the construction material rather than to a free projectile, the Autclast can protect enclosed maintenance routes where line of sight is poor and surfaces connect through tight geometry.

Anatomy And Physiology

The paired cylinders are the defining mechanical organs. Their mass provides the impulse for the strike, while their placement on opposite sides stabilizes the chassis before release. The central optical assembly has a clear view of the approach path, and the low body profile keeps the machine close enough to the surface for its heat pulse to couple efficiently into metal, stone, or hardened conduit plating.

Autclast shares the one-eyed Chozo automaton silhouette seen in several ZDR systems, but its arm arrangement makes it a specialized shock device rather than a cutter or ranged turret. A machine that sends force through the surface gains much more value there than it would in open natural ground.

An Autclast can patrol floors, walls, and ceilings, so its effective habitat is a three-dimensional shell rather than one walking lane. Corner seams, cooling conduits, gantry undersides, and reinforced tunnel crowns all function as potential operating tracks. That mobility lets a small number of units impose a predictable exclusion pattern throughout an otherwise complex room.
