Overview
Autector is a compact Mawkin security device designed to disappear into the floor until a body enters its near field. In its resting state, little of the machine is exposed beyond the central red optical point. Once activated, its three surrounding panels unfold, the core clears the floor, and the unit commits to a local destructive release.
This is a route-denial instrument rather than a mobile hunter. Its success depends on being overlooked during ordinary movement through a controlled structure. The device turns the architectural surface itself into the sensor platform, which makes it especially useful in facilities where doors, shafts, and narrow footpaths already limit where traffic can travel.
Anatomy And Physiology
The circular core contains the optical sensor and likely the timing or proximity logic. Three folding outer panels give the device a triangular outline while stowed and protect the central assembly from surface wear. When released, those panels create the clearance needed for the core to rise above the floor before detonation rather than directing the force into its own mounting point.
Autector's small scale is part of its mechanical advantage. The unit does not require a heavy chassis, long-range sightline, or external gun barrel. The shared feature is controlled circulation: sealed corridors, floor panels with predictable access paths, and infrastructure that discourages wide detours. These are locations where a fixed trap can expect nearby movement instead of waiting indefinitely in open terrain.
The device is generally embedded where surface texture and low light obscure its panel boundaries. It benefits from clean metal decking, maintenance seams, and the visual clutter of cable shadows or reflected illumination. A damaged floor plate may conceal more than structural wear; the central point and the three-part geometry are stronger indicators than a visibly raised housing.
Operational Behavior
Autector waits passively until its sensor confirms a close disturbance. The activation sequence is brief: the core rises, the panels open, and the unit releases its stored energy before a route can be comfortably re-evaluated. Its behavior is simple by design. There is no need for chase logic when placement has already narrowed the possible responses.
In a layered security environment, the local blast also creates information for adjacent systems. An abrupt structural impact, thermal flash, or movement away from the node can push a disturbance into the field of a nearby E.M.M.I., Autclast, or fixed observation point. This makes the unit more than an isolated hazard; it is a small trigger inside a larger network.
Manufacture And Service Continuity
The recessed body and sealed panel arrangement favor long unattended deployment. A maintenance team could install nodes during a construction phase, cover the seams with standard floor material, and leave them active without dedicating an operator to each one. That service model matches the unit's limited sensor range and one-event response better than a system meant for constant human supervision.
Because the machine consumes itself when it fully activates, an intact Autector represents an unspent security resource rather than a dormant patrol unit. Facilities with many embedded seats may have been designed for rapid replacement after an incident. Mapping empty mounts, blast-scored recesses, and still-sealed nodes together can reveal the original density of a protected route.
