Chatoyant Vooloon, known among his people as Chatoya, was the final Lamorn priest to remain on Viewros after surviving companions departed in search of help and the prophesied Chosen One. Samus Aran encountered him through psychic recordings, not through a meeting with a living survivor. His messages connected the Master Teleporter, Temple of Memory, and preservation of Lamorn history into an obligation that could outlast the people who had entrusted it to him.

His authority changed purpose under catastrophe. Where he had guided a living civilization, he prepared its knowledge for a visitor who might arrive after everyone able to receive an answer was gone. That transformation makes the record neither an ordinary leader profile nor a disembodied intelligence. It is a finite testament left by a person who could no longer correct it.

Formation Within The Priesthood

Lamorn priesthood joined spiritual leadership to custody of communal knowledge. Prayers offered to the Sacred Tree preserved accumulated history in a living psychic repository, so a priest bore responsibility for memory as well as ceremony. Chatoya learned that tradition could preserve wisdom while retaining omissions its authors had not recognized.

He trained as listener and recorder, receiving testimony without reducing it to conclusions authority preferred. Psychic communication made that discipline essential: a strongly transmitted feeling could overwhelm the context that explained it, while a communal memory could become conformity if custodians retained only agreeable experience.

His mature manner was patient, formal, and reassuring without mistaking confidence for evidence. He could offer hope while preserving why hope was failing, a tension that became defining during the Lamorn collapse.

Green Energy And Civilizational Failure

Lamorn Green Energy promised renewal and material security but contributed to the transformation of Viewros's living systems. The crisis was not a simple invasion awaiting a hidden army; it altered relationships among technology, environment, and Lamorn bodies. Treatments failed, research grew desperate, and the distinction between citizen and Griever became unstable.

Chatoya coordinated survivors, received reports from failing facilities, and helped direct withdrawal toward the Chrono Tower. Consolidation preserved a shared plan while exposing how few remained to sustain it. He was neither sole inventor nor secret cause of the disaster. His importance lies in the authority he exercised once ordinary institutional purposes ceased to function.

A laboratory could continue treatment after society lost the ability to protect patients. A priest could repeat a promise after fulfillment became biologically impossible. Chatoya's final response was to change the obligation rather than conceal that impossibility.

The Thirteen And The Master Teleporter

The final circle held thirteen priests before twelve departed through the Master Teleporter. They sought rescue, alternatives, or the person tradition expected to arrive. Chatoya remained to preserve a destination for any help that returned. Their departure was not necessarily abandonment; a civilization facing extinction could distribute its last effort between seekers and the custodian ensuring that a solution would still have somewhere to arrive.

His role became solitary. Functioning mechanisms offered the appearance of continuity without people to give that continuity meaning. He could prepare a route and protect an instruction, but could not make the absent priests return. The archive does not establish the fate or destination of each departure.

He treated the Chosen One as a future recipient rather than a subordinate. Surviving guidance recognizes Samus in that role without establishing that he controlled her life or possessed a complete prediction of her decisions. Prophecy supplied a language for entrusting the unknown; practical preparation supplied the means to act.

Psychic Recordings And Posthumous Presence

As death approached, Chatoya recorded messages where an arriving visitor would need explanation and direction. Their placement formed a sequence of discovery: five Master Teleporter Keys, then the Sacred Tree, Memory Fruit, and legacy they would carry. A traveler without Lamorn cultural knowledge could learn enough to proceed without mastering an entire vanished civilization first.

The recordings preserve voice, manner, and intention with unusual immediacy, but do not prove the whole living Chatoya survives inside every projection. A prepared psychic message can respond to its release conditions while remaining a finite testament. Samus encountered meaningful authorship across time, not an immortal priest able to revise the plan after later events.

The work was courageous because receipt was never guaranteed. A recording could survive without a listener, and an instruction could be heard without being accepted. Its authority depended upon whether a stranger could recognize a reason to care.

The Sacred Tree And Memory Fruit

The Sacred Tree contained Lamorn accumulated knowledge through prayers and psychic contributions. Its Memory Fruit offered a portable continuation of that repository. Cultivation required Green Energy Crystals to be converted and offered through the Temple mechanism. Samus completed the process, received the fruit and Lamorn Legacy Suit, and continued toward the Master Teleporter.

The living repository was not designed to reproduce Chatoya's sovereignty elsewhere. Lamorn knowledge could take root beyond Viewros without new custodians becoming Lamorn or answering to a vanished government. It carried achievements and failures together, without promising resurrection of individuals or restoration of the population.

After leaving Viewros, Samus planted the Memory Fruit on Tanamaar and relinquished her Psychic Crystal to nourish its growth. The emerging sapling gave the priest's final appeal a material answer: Lamorn memory had left the world on which it would otherwise have remained inaccessible.

Legacy

Chatoya's final work complements rather than duplicates surviving Chozo monuments or Luminoth endurance on Aether. The Luminoth lived to receive their world’s return; the Lamorn custodian prepared for someone who might arrive too late to receive thanks. His response was not a weapon or a claim that another species owed obedience. It was a carefully preserved request.

He remains an example of authority becoming custodianship. When he could no longer ensure survival, he protected his people’s capacity to be understood. Their mistakes would not become anonymous ruins or a salvage inventory. The memory carried forward was a civilization, and his enduring achievement was making that difference legible to someone with every immediate reason to think only about getting home.
