Halzyn is a heavily built shell fauna of SR388’s dark mineral corridors. Its thick body, single low-light eye, paired bracing appendages, and heavy side armor are arranged around one practical problem: remaining secure against a wall or crevice when the route offers little visibility and less open ground. The species is best recognized by its asymmetry, not by a generic “armored cave animal” description.
The shell does not cover the body evenly. It protects the side most likely to face an exposed corridor, while the animal’s appendages root it against stone and allow a controlled withdrawal toward cover. That body plan makes it well suited to shadowed approaches where a fast response would be less valuable than being able to hold a safe angle against an approaching disturbance.
Halzyn is limited by the same design. It is most effective in close, low-light terrain with firm surfaces to brace against. Broad rubble fields, unstable ground, and open spaces reduce the advantage of its side armor and make its slow repositioning more apparent.
