Overview

The Green Kralee is a small insectoid variant of the Kralee line found in the Temple Grounds of Aether. Its compact body, segmented silhouette, and regular circuit through stone passages make it easy to confuse with the more familiar form at a distance. The difference appears at the head: a green crystal replaces the configuration associated with the standard Kralee.

That color difference carries a functional consequence. The Green Kralee does not form the dimensional gate used by the standard form. Its crystal is defective for that purpose, leaving the animal bound to ordinary routes through the Temple Grounds. It remains mobile and alert, but it cannot vanish from one side of a chamber and appear on another through the gate behavior that defines its close relative.

The animal is a low-threat hunter-gatherer rather than a stationary defense organism. It repeatedly patrols a defined stretch of temple ground while seeking nourishment, using ledges, stone seams, and tunnel edges as a familiar corridor. This makes it useful to environmental study: its route reveals which portions of a damaged temple remain passable to small native fauna.

Crystal Function

The green cranial crystal is not merely a different marking. Standard Kralee rely on their crystal structure for a transient gate response; the Green Kralee lacks that capability. The resulting limitation gives the variant a distinct behavior pattern. It must commit to a physical route, retreat through the same terrain it entered, and navigate obstacles with climbing and short ground movement instead of an immediate spatial escape.

This distinction makes a Green Kralee a valuable comparison subject without requiring it to be treated as a fully separate species. Its body is close enough to the wider Kralee pattern to show what the crystal controls, while its altered function reveals what the rest of the animal can accomplish without it. No evidence supports a broader portal mechanism elsewhere in its body.

Temple Grounds Route Behavior

Confirmed movement occurs around Industrial Site, Agon Transport Access, and Collapsed Tunnel. These locations are not an arbitrary list of ruins. Together they form a connected set of exposed stone approaches where a small climber can move between cover, ground-level seams, and old structural breaks. The Green Kralee appears to return to familiar passageways rather than ranging widely across the planet.

The Temple Grounds were shaped by the Luminoth, but the Green Kralee is not a Luminoth construct or guardian. Its presence is biological use of an inherited landscape. Repeated observations along the same route should therefore be read as local foraging and shelter behavior, not as evidence that the creature is responding to the former temple command system.

Field Interpretation

Because the Green Kralee is small and lacks the standard gate response, it is easy to under-record. That would lose the point of the variant. The defect changes its entire relationship to obstruction: collapsed masonry, sealed gaps, and elevation changes matter more to it than to a Kralee able to circumvent a barrier through a gate. Its movements are a direct measure of what the temple terrain still permits.

Contact should be avoided even though the threat level is limited. A startled animal may defend its route with claws and a distracting crystal flash, and repeated interference can erase the very patrol pattern under observation. Record the direction of travel, the crystal color, and the exact structural route first; that combination separates Green Kralee activity from both the standard form and unrelated Temple Grounds fauna.
