Overview

The Light Flyer is a Luminoth aerial security drone that remains active inside damaged Aether installations. Its continuous light, durable chassis, airborne mobility, and integrated energy output identify it as a constructed defense system, not a creature that merely happens to fly. The light is central to the danger: it makes the machine conspicuous while also revealing movement throughout the corridor volume it patrols.

The unit’s current hostility is best explained as a failure or corruption of recognition and command context. A Light Flyer does not need territory, food, or a nest to maintain an exclusion zone. It follows a security logic whose target categories no longer reliably distinguish protected personnel from intruders, allowing a surviving defensive mechanism to become a threat long after the site’s original authority has collapsed.

Its limits are mechanical. The drone needs flight stability, available energy, a sensor picture, and enough open vertical space to maintain a patrol pattern. Those needs do not make a damaged corridor safe, but they give a survey team specific things to assess: whether the unit can circle, whether its emitters remain stable, and whether the surrounding installation still supports its route.

Aerial Security Architecture
