The Parasite record is not a single uniform animal but a Tallon IV complex that includes native plated parasites, ice-adapted forms, Phazon-mutated swarm parasites, and the queen produced from the strongest altered specimen. The old source is explicit that ordinary hard-shelled parasites existed before Phazon reached Tallon IV, while the small hive-driven swarm form did not exist before contamination and experimentation changed selected individuals.

The Space Pirate Horde used parasites aboard their Frigate and exposed groups to Phazon, producing a softer, smaller, more aggressive form with a full hive instinct. The transformation changed both body and society. Animals that once lived near one another without strong bonds became coordinated by a queen, swarming prey and sacrificing individuals in collision attacks that made the group far more dangerous than any lone parasite.

Native forms remain important to the record. Plated Parasites are larger, heavily shelled Magmoor dwellers with claws for wall grip and prey restraint, while Ice Parasites carry crystalline protection in freezing Phendrana environments. The family therefore shows how one lineage can express heat armor, cold armor, scavenging, predation, Phazon mutation, and hive hierarchy under different pressures.

The Parasite Queen represents the extreme altered form. She carries a more advanced version of the family's acidic blood, concentrating acids into the mouth and forcibly expelling them at threats or prey. Plated Parasites live deep in Magmoor, where heat, stone, and limited prey favor hard shells, wall claws, and opportunistic feeding. Ice Parasites occupy freezing zones where crystalline shells protect the body, and their prey base differs because Phendrana offers more varied organisms than the heated depths.

The mutated swarm range is tied to Space Pirate Horde containment, Frigate experimentation, heated queen rest areas, and breach sites where Phazon-altered individuals escaped ordinary ecological limits. These spaces are not native habitat in the strict sense. They are laboratory and crisis habitats created when an existing Tallon IV organism was forced through contamination, selection, and hive organization.

Survey evidence should separate morphs carefully: Magmoor shell fragments, claw scoring, overturned prey remains, Phendrana crystalline shell residue, acidic queen discharge, egg storage traces, and mass collision marks from swarm attacks. Treating every record as one parasite type erases the main scientific value, which is the contrast between ordinary regional adaptation and Phazon-imposed social mutation.

Behavior And Ecology

Native parasites behave as armored scavengers or opportunistic predators. Plated forms rest in safe heated areas, capture rare prey such as Shriek Bat when available, and exploit Grizby by flipping them to expose vulnerable undersides. Food scarcity in Magmoor likely favors patience, strong defense, and feeding methods that minimize risk to the parasite's own weak belly.

Mutated Parasites behave as a swarm under hive pressure. They throw themselves against prey in sacrificial collision attacks, where the loss of some individuals is outweighed by the group's ability to bring down larger organisms. This is not ordinary bravery. It is a changed cost structure in which each body is disposable if the hive, queen, and eggs remain productive.

The queen changes the ecology by centralizing reproduction. Parasites may bring food or biomass to her, guard eggs, and treat her survival as the hive's continuity even if they do not need to defend her constantly. Her presence converts a loose parasite population into an organized biological system with caste-like consequences, showing how Phazon can create social architecture from an otherwise weakly bonded lineage.

Reproduction And Development

Native reproduction is not detailed for every parasite variant, so the record should distinguish confirmed queen reproduction from inferred regional cycles. Plated and Ice Parasites likely reproduce in ways suited to their thermal or cold habitats, but the old source gives the clearest data for the Phazon-mutated queen.
