Unlike a rooted seed pod that waits for water, wind, or an animal carrier, it moves under its own power while carrying an internal seed toward soil capable of supporting the next stage. This makes its visible body a transport structure as much as an organism: it protects a future plant while navigating around poor substrate and local disturbance.
The mobility is paired with a volatile defense. When severely agitated or ruptured, the body can expel its internal seed with force. That discharge can clear space around a group, but it also spends the seed's intended future on an emergency response. A scattered seed is not automatically a successful dispersal event, especially when it lands in waterlogged ground, stone, or a corridor without the conditions needed for establishment.
Seed Bursters therefore make a rare ecological compromise visible. The individual body can protect the movement of the wider group at the cost of its own reproductive potential, while the remaining plantforms continue toward fertile ground. Their presence changes the meaning of a bog route: it is not merely terrain to cross, but a moving search line between failing and viable soil.
