Name
Reaver-Class Destroyer
Legacy Designation
Space Pirate Destroyer
Item Class
Destroyer / heavy laser assault craft
Manufacturer / Origin
Space Pirate capital-strike yards
Primary Role
Fleet attack, planetary defense, heavy beam engagement, bombing runs, and troop delivery support
Operating Theater
Norion invasion space, G.F.S. Olympus sightlines, Temple of Bryyo airspace, Phaaze defense formation, and later Prime 4 theater sightings
Field Access
Capital-scale hostile asset; science teams require fleet escort and debris-standoff protocol
Summary
The Reaver-Class Destroyer is a heavy Pirate spacecraft distinguished by three forward prongs surrounding a large front-mounted laser cannon. Its main weapon is strong enough to destroy a Griffin-class frigate with a single direct hit, making the craft a priority threat in any fleet action.
Operational Notes
Destroyers were deployed during the Norion invasion, seen defending Phaaze, and later observed in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond with the same general profile. The craft can also drop explosive energy bursts during atmospheric bombing runs.

Distinct Features

The Reaver-Class Destroyer is defined by its forward silhouette. Three massive prongs extend from the spiked main body and surround a heavy laser cannon. That geometry makes the weapon the center of the craft's identity, both visually and tactically.

The main cannon gives the destroyer its archive priority. Records link a direct hit to the destruction of Griffin-class frigate wreckage, while larger battleships require more sustained punishment. This makes the destroyer a threat multiplier whenever it appears near Federation capital assets.

The craft also carries atmospheric utility. A Reaver over Bryyo demonstrated explosive energy-burst drops during a bombing run near the Temple of Bryyo. That ability lets the same hull threaten ships, ground teams, and fixed objectives without changing its basic mission profile.

Operational Profile

Destroyers are deployed where Pirate command wants visible force. At least several were committed during the Norion invasion, and their presence could be observed from the G.F.S. Olympus. Their role in that battle was not subtle; they existed to pressure the Federation fleet and frame the invasion as a capital assault.

Later Phaaze defense sightings show destroyers holding position around a strategic world. Some were marked by Phazon growths on the central structure during that era, linking the hull to the corruption war's biological-mechanical escalation. Prime 4 sightings preserve the same general destroyer shape without those large growths, suggesting a durable design lineage beyond the Phazon campaign.

In field play, a destroyer is best used as a background threat with specific tactical windows. The team may need to activate a shield, move a convoy, disable a targeting relay, or survive a bombing pass before the main cannon cycles again. Direct boarding should be a major operation, not a casual extension of a ground fight.

Mission Relevance

The Reaver-Class Destroyer record helps explain why certain battlefields become unwinnable without fleet-scale answers. One beam can change the value of a frigate, station, or evacuation route in a single moment. That makes the craft useful whenever the story needs pressure from above without making the players fight an entire fleet directly.

For science teams, debris from a destroyer engagement is rich evidence. Laser scoring, prong fragments, Phazon-channel residue, and impact geometry can show which side fired first and what target the Pirates valued. The wreckage may also identify whether the hull belonged to the Corruption-era variant or a later clean-frame pattern.

For tabletop operations, the Reaver creates a countdown and a target-priority puzzle. Players can hide, jam the cannon, sabotage a spotter, rescue survivors, or force the ship to reposition. The best use makes the vessel feel massive while keeping the immediate choices readable at ground scale.
