A Fleet Mechanic is not simply a Fleet Trooper with tools. The Trooper maintains the live human operation around a station; the mechanic diagnoses the physical cause when that operation is compromised. Nor is the mechanic a front-line Marine. The technical role may be carried into hazardous spaces, but its purpose is the recovery of equipment and infrastructure rather than direct control of a battlefield.

The mechanic's suit, optics, tools, and carried access equipment support close inspection in cramped, noisy, or poorly lit service areas. Each item is part of a practical sequence: reach the system, isolate the dangerous portion, identify the failing component, and make a repair that will hold once normal load resumes.
